LectureLens

Short, quality-checked summaries of any part of a recorded lecture, on demand, without leaving the page you are watching.

Checking service status

What it does

Summarise any segment

Pick the last two minutes, the last ten, or drag to select a range. You get a summary of just that part.

Every summary is checked

Each summary is automatically compared against the lecture transcript before you see it. Summaries that fail are regenerated.

Built for different readers

Adjustable text and spacing, reading themes, a learning focus view and read aloud, for people who find dense text hard going.

Getting started

  1. Install the extension in Chrome using the link below.
  2. Open a recorded lecture as you normally would.
  3. Click the LectureLens tab on the right of the page.
  4. Choose how much of the lecture to summarise, then press Summarise.
A word on accuracy

Summaries are generated by an AI model. Every summary is checked against the lecture transcript before it is shown, but no automatic check is perfect. Treat summaries as a study aid rather than a replacement for the lecture, and check anything that matters against the recording.

About this project

LectureLens is a non-commercial research tool developed as part of an honours thesis in the School of Computer Science at the University of Sydney, supervised by Professor Imdad Ullah. It investigates whether AI summaries that are automatically validated against their source can support students engaging with recorded lectures, particularly students who find sustained attention or dense reading difficult.

The extension runs entirely within your own browser session. It reads only the lecture transcript already shown on the page you have opened, holds no University login, and collects no information that identifies you. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
